Memes, Decades & Talking topics A meme is an image, video, piece of text, etc. typically humorous in nature, that is copied and spread rapidly by Internet users, often with slight variations. They are so entertaining and often bring much needed comic relief about important topics or things happening in politics for example. I was intrigued to know what style of memes young people enjoy as there are many types. Here’s what they said: Love island memes funny/classic memes Ww3 memes Ww3 memes Funny memes Pewdiepie memes/ dark memes Google any of these topics and you will find hilarious results! As well as this, if you’re on any social media there are also many meme pages [social media accounts dedicated to memes]. Memes have been around for a long time but have only really gained mainstream popularity in the last decade. Earlier this week i was listening to a podcast done by some other young people I know. In this episode, one of the questions they asked each other was, what year in the last decade was your favourite. It was such a good question [I am always looking out for new ones] that i had to ask the same to the young people. Check out their responses: 2015 2019 because I’ve grown a lot and become happier with life 2014 2017 2018 because that’s when I [this part of their answer was unclear] best friends 2018 We all have different answers to this question and that answer may change as we grow older. Our passions and hobbies can also change over time as well as the things we could talk about. Recently, someone highlighted a tweet they saw asking the question: what topic [or topics] could you talk about in a ted talk [around 10 minutes] without previous preparation and I thought this could be a great question to ask the young people: Dance 13 Reasons Why, Clay Jenson [main actor in 13RW] Anime, anime, anime Dance, martial arts, school theology/philosophy, organising things into categories, films/books If you are interested in what a TEDtalk is, click this link: TED & TEDx Explained. As you can see, we all have different and unique passions. This is great as it means we can all learn something from each other. We just have to take the time to listen! See you next week and I hope you know you are loved!
