Latest Question Of The Week blog Highlights, New Years & 2020 HAPPY NEW YEAR! Welcome to 2020! A new decade, a new season of life and a chance to really go for those things you’ve been putting off for too long! But before we get into that, let’s stop for a moment and reflect on the year just passed. It’s important to take time out and see what we can learn from the years gone. This is what inspired me to ask the young people what their highlight of the year was: Becoming closer with my family and friends Making new friends Concentrating and not answering back in school Got into university Limitless festival and Ignite open mic night Another good habit to form as well as looking back to learn from the past, is to look forward momentarily to remind us of the good things to come. I was also interested to see how the young people and staff were spending new years eve and day. What’s your favourite way to spend new years? Here's what the young people said: New years day- spending with my family, new years day I'll be at church Reflecting on the year, setting goals I’m in wales until new years I’m going to a friends party In church Church and family time! With my mum + sisters As we can see, family and togetherness, as well as reflection, are the most common. During this time of year, we can also experience sadness or loss for people who have passed away and are no longer around. This is another reason why its important to look forward, to remind us that we must keep living and being present in life rather than staying too wound up in the past or worrying about the future. Here’s what the young people and staff are looking forward to in 2020: Turning 18 and going on holiday Working on songs that keep coming up Nothing Learning & growth I’m looking forward to meeting new people We can always find something that is good in our lives. No matter how bleak life can look there is always a light that breaks through the clouds; a silver lining of sorts. I hope and pray that this new year and new decade will bless you and show you how much you are loved.
