2007/2008
All Saints Youth Project in Kings Heath (funded by The
Big Lottery) held a spectacular presentation evening on 20 May 2008 for
12 of their members who had completed Youth Achievement Awards accredited
by Asdan, a nationally recognised awarding body.
Local talent hero Dominic Harris (X-Factor contestant - and a winner in
our eyes!) delighted the packed audience of friends and family by singing
before presenting the awards to Matthew Heath, Joannah Hendon, Chris Treadwell,
Jake Dornan, Tom Palmer, Oliver Price, Luke Hendon, Lucy Trevis, Liam Davis,
Liam Egan, Ashley Davies and Stephanie Stoddart, the youngest of which was
11 years old. The Youth Achievement Award recipients had to complete five
different six hour challenges such as climbing, assault course, group work
and independent skills. The young people met regularly at All Saints Youth
Project where they worked on their portfolios and discussed further challenges.
As a final and lovely gesture, Dominic sang 'My Girl' to another of All
Saints Youth Project's members, Emma Trevis, who celebrated her 16th birthday
on the day of the presentation.
Jan Summers, the Youth Achievement Awards Co-ordinator said "Youth
Achievements Awards are a fantastic way of recognising the individual challenges
that young people set for themselves."
